Google isn’t wasting anytime getting Android 4.3 out into the hands users and developers alike! Not only has Google announced Nexus devices will see the latest version of Android later today (and ‘soon’ for Google Play Edition devices), Jean-Baptiste Quer took to the Android Building Group to let us know that 4.3 will even reach AOSP today.
Google Airlines welcomes you on the ground in Android International Open Source Airport Project. The local time is exactly 4:30 pm. We will be taxiing for a few minutes to our gate JSS15J while ground support guides us to the public git server. We hope that you had a pleasant flight and we welcome you to Jelly Bean, or that you have a conflict-free rebase while connecting to your final version.
An AOSP code release is certainly great news as it means it is only a matter of time before custom ROMs and other special Android 4.3-based modifications make their way to the modder community. Of more immediate use to the average Android modder, Google has also already released the factory images and binaries for Nexus devices through the Google Developer’s portal!
For those that are extra impatient and can’t wait til later today, you can always use the factory images to manually upgrade to Android 4.3 right now. Of course it will be easier to just wait, as difficult as waiting around might be.
With today’s release of the Nexus 7, Android 4.3, Chromecast and a new Google Games app - Christmas in July has in fact arrived! Are you excited to get your hands on Android 4.3? What new feature are you must interested in checking out?
